G is for GOGGLES

Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that takes many Victorian/Industrial Age technologies, and then thrusts it into a futuristic world. In a steampunk world, there might be flying machines, computers, and ray guns - but built from copper, wood, brass, and using steam as a power source. It's a unique blend of the future and the present that makes steampunk unique.

Another iconic steampunk item are goggles. They complete a steampunk ensemble, and also provide much needed eye protection when one is racing in a steam roadster, doing ghastly experiments as a mad scientist, or flying high in a dirigible. Goggles have become much more intricate lately, with designs making them pieces of art.

Standard goggles for driving or flying
Whoa. Need a lens?
I'm not sure what this does, but it's cooll!

Steampunk goggles usually are made from brass, wood, copper, and of course, glass. And the more elaborate and funky, the better. To me, the goggles represent the eclectic mix of of state-of-the-art technology, Victorian swagger, and  individuality.

Quite the symbol for steampunk, them goggles! *whistles*

I swear, when I'll be needing glasses (with age) I'll get some really funky steampunk frames.

I'm a bit of a minimalist, so I like the first pair.
Personally I'm going with monocles. I have one standard monocle, and I'm collecting the material to make a watch casing into a sort of enhanced jeweler's glass.

Vero: Wouldn't that be funny to see? A senior citizen donning a pair of radical steampunk goggles to read!

Kelly: I love the first pair too. Unless I'm doing ghastly science experiments, then I might use that second pair.

Hi Jay! I'm such a slacker for not getting over here sooner... but I love your theme. And yep there's just something super cool about steampunk goggles.

I love sci-fi, but I've never read a steampunk, I think I need to. Thanks for the follow at Falling For Fiction, nice to meet you :)

I need to read some steampunk too. Great theme. I think if you wore any of those, you'd look like you were up to some clever business.

My wife just told me last week it's time to get some new frames for my glasses. Maybe I can score me something like one of those.

Eagle: It's fun to just Google "steampunk goggles."

Michael: I know, me too. I bought some for my son last year for Halloween. Might have to "borrow" them.

Nick: I hope you checked out "B for Books." Lots there.

Rusty: Get some with infrared lenses.

Pardon me but to where do you use such kind of thing? Is it an accessory? A glass? A goggles? I don't think it fits any of those in anyway. But it sure looks cools for a street bling.
