Oh heck yes, I would definitely be an Airship Pirate Captain!
I still don't really get steampunk, but I think it looks so cool. Is the theme... corsets and aviation? Clock gears and weapons? Did you know that they apparently have whole steampunk conventions?
Steampunk is such a diverse genre. I would totally give it a try if I wasn't afraid of the mass of steampunk followers who are religious about the rules and styles. It frightens me a little :)
Engineers have and make all the coolest toys. Maybe the pirate needs an engineer on her crew...

Julie: It does look cool! Hopefully more and more steampunk themed books will be more accessible and gain broader appeal.
J.A.: It was intimidated for me at first, and when started writing my current project, I had the setting in mind before I even knew it had a name! You will always have purists in any genre. But I think the masses want more.
Kelly: They do...and many engineers are employed by pirates. Somebody's gotta keep the airships workin'
I'm down for anything that provides for swashbuckling and skullduggery at the same time.

I've incorporated steampunk into a number of my stories. I love the genre.
Great costumes, I wish everyone dressed like that. The real world can be so lame sometimes.
I think the steampunk clothes are fun. I'd choose to dress up as the pirate...without that big heavy hat.
