Crunch Time

So much is going on, my head is going to explode.

I'm studying for a big Optometry exam that I will be taking at the end of November. Brain is fried. All that crappy math I thought I'd never have to do again has reared its ugly head!

Also, I'm working on putting the finishing touches on my debut novel, Dragonfly Warrior. Sheesh, I sure hope you bloggers aren't sick of me talking about this project. The road has been bumpy as hell, and now the fears and insecurities are kicking in.

Got my manuscript back from my editor. And she's my THIRD editor that's worked with me on this book. My goal is to get everything squared away by November so I can do any last minute stuff in December in anticipation for my January 6th publication date.

Oh, and NaNo is obviously in November too. I will do my best, but I just love spending time with my local writers here in St. Louis. Even though I probably won't win this year, it will still be good to stay involved with my fellow WriMos here in town.

So yeah, I'm a little overwhelmed.

Thanks to all that signed up for my big cover reveal! Sign up is below if you haven't already. A cool steampunk prize awaits the lucky blogger. I will be emailing the cover and blurb later this week to everybody.

And I've prepared an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) of Dragonfly Warrior in PDF format. It's not the absolute final draft, of course, but I did want to get some feedback from readers. If you are interested in getting a preview of my awesome Asian-Steampunk novel, just let me know in the comments section.

I wrote the acknowledgments page last night, and it made me reflect on how wonderful all of you are. This blogging community has been my rock during all my ordeals, and many of you were there for me when my heart got broken TWICE. Can't thank you all enough!

Have a great week!

Looking forwarding to seeing the cover! Happy to help with the reveal. And eager to purchase your book when it comes out next year.
And when I wrote the dedication in my third book, this awesome community was a driving force behind the words.

Congrats on seeing the finish line. January 6th will be here before you know it! Let me know if I can do anything to help. I'm decent with graphics if you need something.

Alex: Thanks. And the blogging community IS a driving force for sure.

Charmine: Thank you!

Melanie: Can't wait to show everybody

Brinda: Cool, because I'm terrible with graphics.

L. Diane: No problemo. Thanks for signing up

David: I really appreciate it. I had no idea the eyeball was so darn complicated. Just know that your eye doctor HAS to be smart.

Hugh: Fantastic! Thanks

Good luck with it all! I'm going to do NaNo this year too, but I know I don't have much time for writing next month. I just hate to miss participating.

I read my first steampunk YA trilogy by Scott Westerfield recently. I discovered that I really liked it... a delightful surprise. I don't know if you still want advanced readers, but I would love to read it. My email address is rarichards68@gmail.com. Congrats on being *thisclose* to published.

Wow, you are busy! Best of luck with all you're doing. I'm planning on doing NaNo this year as well—if I can stay awake enough hours in the day to get it done. :)

I hope you had a great Monday.

Samantha May said...

Optometry, eh? I think I need to get my vision checked soon...

Good luck with everything! I might actually attempt NaNo, but I'm not sure if I'm actually going to finish though.

Christine: I'm pretty sure I won't be a winner this year, but it's great getting together for our local write-ins. Love meeting writers in town.

Robin: I have yet to read his books. I think I will love them. Your ARC is on the way!

Dana: We're crazy, aren't we?

Samantha May: Seeing stuff IS pretty important. You know, just give it a try. It's fun, even if you don't make it.

Wow. It's not far now Jay, so I hope you do well. The Doctor's brain is pretty big, so I can imagine it would take a lot to fill it. BTW I'd love your thoughts on my Doctor Who post today! http://bit.ly/1h5r7lV

Good luck Jay. I'm rooting for your success and Nano and the optician thing too. Are you always a multi-tasker or just now?
