D is for "Days Go By"

Oftentimes, lightning only strikes once for many singers and bands. My A-Z Challenge for 2014 will focus on those glorious "one hit wonders" spanning the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Some are my favorite songs, others are just plain memorable (for better or for worse). Join me in celebrating these 26 one hit wonders in pop music!

I love all kinds of music, and my taste is all over the board depending on my mood. I love hard rock, R&B, adult contemporary, and...electronic music.

2001 was a great year the British electronic band, Dirty Vegas. Their big hit, "Days Go By" rocketed up the charts and even won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording. Many people recognize the song from the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse commercial.

The music video is also pretty awesome. It features a guy that decides to dance "from sunup to sunset" in front of a sandwich shop, hoping that lost love returns. He dances every day, for years. He even ages, but the woman of his dreams never shows up. But the guy's dancing is pretty incredible.

Alas, Dirty Vegas didn't do a whole lot to capitalize on their initial success and disbanded in 2005. Maybe if I go out and dance long enough, I can bring them back!

That's a dedicated dancer. Shame his love never ate there.

At first I didn't think I remembered this one but then the video brought it right back. Who can forgot that guy dancing? Fun blast from the past.

Never heard that song before. Interesting concept for a video. You can take two lessons from this... one is to never give up. The other is to just move on already.

That said, he was a pretty great dancer:)

Alex: Yup. Shame she never came back for the hashbrowns!

Julie: I know. I just remember the commercial. Good going Mitsubishi!

Robin: I guess I watch too many commercials. But I did put this song on my iPod.

I officially didn't really know this one. You still have a good average, though!

It's too bad some groups disband so quickly, but now I have you to thank for introducing me to this group! :)

Great idea for a theme! I knew the song when I heard it, but never saw the video. D for Dedication and Dancing too!

I'd never heard that track before. The video was great, inspiring if tragic as well.

What a touching idea for a video.

That guy would be in DANG good shape, but I wonder how he's paying for that suit, and whatever he eats. And when does he eat? And does he take restroom breaks during the day? Oh so many plot holes... ;)

Start dancing. It sounds like they need to return to the music world.

Nice! Anything done after about '95, chances are I haven't heard it so it's new to me.

At first I didn't think I'd heard this song, but I have! And I remember liking it too. The narrative in the video is really sweet, fits it very nicely.

I remember this song from the commercial but had no idea who was behind the music. Thanks for the info, Jay. I do like this month's theme. Excellent choice. Have a good one.

I used to listen to this song every chance I got. Definitely feeling nostalgic right now.

You had me at music! :)
It's amazing how many times it happens that people mention a song and it doesn't ring any bells, but the minute you hear it, you realize you know it after all. So much wonderful music out there that escapes your notice.
