My MOST Favorite Christmas Songs

It was in the mid-50s here in St. Louis today, so it's hard to get into the Christmas spirit with it being so warm. Normal for this time of year is around 40 degrees. Tomorrow will be near 60! Regardless, Christmas music is still going strong on a couple local radio stations, and here's three of my favorites:

"Mary Did You Know?" -- Voctave with Mark Lowry. I LOVE Voctave. They are all incredible vocalists, and together, they pack a punch. Mark Lowry is the original songwriter of this gorgeous piece, so it's great hearing him sing his own song. Pentatonix's version is a very close second to this one.

"Christmas Time is Here" -- Vince Guaraldi Trio. I grew up with the Peanuts Gang, and my kids love it too. Watching Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus specials is one of my favorite things to do during the holiday season. This song has a dreamlike quality. My daughter and her choir sang this at a retirement center just last week, so I'm biased!

"Grown-Up Christmas List" -- Amy Grant. Written by David Foster, Natalie Cole sang it first back in 1990. But this song became a big hit for Amy Grant in 1993. I also like Kelly Clarkson and Michael Buble's versions, but the lyrics get me every time. It's always this time of year when we reflect on what we've been through the last twelve months, and we always hope for the best.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and I hope you get to spend time with friends and family this time of the year.

A fine pick of three indeed. Let it snow is up on top of mine, just because of Die Hard lol

Peanuts songs are ingrained in our heads forever.
Right now, I am digging the very guitar-heavy version of Joy to the World my band will be playing on Sunday! Although neither I nor the other guitarist can match the master Lincoln Brewster.

Some of my nontraditional favorites: Christmas Canon by TSO, Christmastime by Smashing Pumpkins, and Slower Than Christmas by the Boxmasters. A traditional song done nontraditionally I like is Angels We Have Heard on High by Sara Groves; it's done with like a mariachi band kind of feel that's really neat. It's not a Christmas song but Same Auld Lang Syne by Dan Fogelberg is one of those that always gets me. And for a song it's like a whole story.

My favorite is TSO's Christmas Eve Sarajevo. And it is so amazing to see in concert. (Which I've now done 12 times!)

Interesting picks. I don't like any of these Christmas songs. I suppose I'm more of a traditionalist, because I like O Holy Night and Silent Night.
